Day to day as a Water Resources Engineer
As a Water Resources Engineer at Ackerman Estvold, you will play a vital role in designing stormwater detention facilities, storm drains, and flood control structures that enhance the resilience of our communities in Minot, North Dakota. Your expertise will drive the development of watershed master plans and flood mitigation studies, while you analyze drainage systems to effectively manage erosion and stabilize riverbanks. You'll interface with entities like FEMA and USACE, ensuring compliance through detailed environmental documentation. This position will also involve performing pre-design services, creating design specifications, and managing project schedules and budgets.

To excel as a Water Resources Engineer at Ackerman Estvold, you will need to bring a robust skill set and relevant experience to the table. A bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering and the ability to obtain a North Dakota PE designation within 12 months are essential. With a minimum of five years of successful design and consulting experience in the water resources field, you will utilize your technical skills in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools, such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and XPSWMM. Your knowledge of hydrologic analysis, open channel and pipe flow, and water quality issues for lakes and streams will be critical to your success. Proficiency in GIS and CADD-based civil design software is necessary, along with a proven ability to work collaboratively in teams.
Outstanding listening and communication skills will help you interface effectively with clients and regulatory entities, ensuring project success and compliance.
