May repair and maintain equipment in addition to other duties. This work is conducted under direction of the IRP Foreman. Compensation and Company Benefits: $20.00 an hour (per Union contract) Paid Time Off Essential Duties and Responsibilities Learn and follow safety regulations Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects. Have the ability to adapt quickly in a changing work environment Adjust handwheels and depress pedals to control attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, or swing booms Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, using trucks, crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, or related equipment Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks or to distribute and level earth or terrain Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, or other regulations Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods Additional Responsibilities Ensure compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery Report to the assigned job site with appropriate personal protective equipment and ready to begin work at the designated start time. Strict adherence to Dolomite policies and procedures as outlined in the Safety Handbook. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license Knowledge and Skills The employee will be required to maintain membership in good standing with the Operating Engineer's Union. Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, using some combination of skills and abilities. A strong commitment to safety and adherence to applicable federal, state and local regulations is a must. Getting Information - observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources Interacting with clients, contractors and inspectors on a daily basis regarding quantities and specifications is a primary responsibility as well as internal communication between departments to complete projects on time Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to comprehend and communicate to others the requirements of technical specifications, regulations, reports, and manuals. Experience 2-4 years experience within a heavy equipment environment. Welding, torching, mechanically inclined, quarry and asphalt experience preferred. Understanding of leadership skills and strong communication skills a plus Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to drive 40, 50, or 60 ton truck, an articulated stock truck or water truck for extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee is required to climb a vertical ladder into the vehicle. The employee must occasionally life and/ or move anywhere up to 50 lbs.
