Technical Project Manager

100% Remote-- Must sit in the U.S.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with systems such as UI Planner, Oracle Hyperion, and ERPs, and a proven record of delivering large-scale enterprise financial systems in utility settings. The Project Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and completion of the UI Budget Planner upgrade, managing scope, schedule, budget, resources, project risks, and system integrator to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning and implementation of the UI Budget planner system upgrade from start to finish.
  • Create and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, resource management plans, and budgets.
  • Facilitate and lead cross-functional teams including Utility Technology, Procurement, Finance, Cybersecurity, City IT, and vendors.
  • Collaborate closely with the system integrator to ensure technical deliverables meet business needs.
  • Develop and update detailed, integrated project plans and business requirements, including functional design, configuration, integration, testing, and other artifacts identified in the System Integrator's Statement of Work.
  • Forecast project budget needs, track burn rates, analyze deviations, and implement corrective measures.
  • Implement project risk mitigation strategies, change management, and communication plans.
  • Ensure alignment with customer PMO standards and practices.
  • Oversee rigorous testing processes (UT, SIT, UAT) and quality assurance.
  • Manage cutover planning and execution to ensure a smooth operational transition.
  • Proactively manage risks and issues, documenting decisions and actions clearly.
  • Oversee the development of documentation, training materials, and training sessions.
  • Regularly communicate and escalate project status, risks, and issues.
  • Prepare accurate and regular project reports and presentations for stakeholders and leadership.
Essential Skills
  • Deep understanding of utility budgeting and planning, including capital and O&M planning.
  • Proficiency in Oracle Hyperion or similar systems.
  • Full-cycle ERP Systems implementation and upgrade experience in utility environments.
  • Expertise in using MS Project or Asana.
  • Oversight of testing processes: UT (Unit Testing), SIT (System Integration Testing), UAT (User Acceptance Testing).
  • Experience in system integration management, including functional design, configuration, integration, and vendor oversight.
  • Strong project controls and risk management skills, including burn rate tracking, forecasting, and mitigation.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and reporting skills, including executive-level updates, documentation, and training materials.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of project management experience, including over 7 years working on financial or related system implementations and upgrades in utilities.
  • Proven track record of managing at least three full-cycle utility ERP and/or budgeting and planning systems implementation projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, cross-functional teams and manage vendors in complex environments.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.
  • Experience in change management and communications planning.
  • Experience preparing executive-level reports and presentations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $49.00 - $60.00/hr.
