Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team. This role requires experience in labor, preferably in a professional environment, although industry-specific experience is not mandatory. The ideal candidate is someone who goes the extra mile to provide exceptional service to our customers. As a Maintenance Worker, you will report directly to the business owner and be responsible for a variety of repair tasks and ongoing projects, ensuring the efficient maintenance and operation of our vintage apartment building.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Work a flexible 40-hour week, allowing you to choose your preferred schedule.
Receive assignments directly from the business owner and prioritize and coordinate work activities accordingly.
Handle repair requests and perform carpentry tasks such as cabinet and shelf installation, as well as framing.
Replace fixtures and undertake minor electrical tasks.
Install plumbing fixtures, fix leaks, and handle other simple plumbing jobs.
Conduct both major and touch-up painting, repainting rooms as required.
Occasionally assist with landscaping, sprinkler system maintenance, and irrigation work.
Provide assistance with loading or unloading trucks and moving large items when needed.
Ensure tools and maintenance equipment are well-maintained and in good working order.
Keep the maintenance room in a neat and organized condition.
Perform any other related duties as required.
Job Requirements:
Demonstrate dependability, reliability, and a positive outlook.
Ability to read simple instructions and follow basic diagrams.
Capable of working independently on assigned tasks after receiving specific instructions.
Possess general knowledge of equipment used in building trades.
Ability to lift and carry items weighing 50+ pounds.
Potential exposure to minor cuts and bruises, with physical effort required by hands and arms.
Proficient in determining the necessary tools and equipment for each task.
Valid driver's license.
Additional Qualifying Factors:
Reliable transportation to and from work, which may include public transportation.
Candidates must pass a criminal background check as a condition of employment.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills when interacting with clients and coworkers.
Previous experience in the property management industry is a plus, though not required.
Working Environment / Physical Activities:
This position requires manual dexterity for using hand tools and performing painting tasks. It also involves standing, crouching, and climbing to perform repairs, utilize ladders, and engage in various types of manual labor. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50+ pounds occasionally.
