The University of Louisiana at Lafayette New Iberia Research Center specializes in the breeding, management, and importation of a diverse range of nonhuman primate species and offers a broad range of diagnostic, laboratory, and human resources for the development and characterization of nonhuman primate models for applied and basic research aimed at promoting human quality of life. We operate diversified animal housing systems include indoor/outdoor cages for housing small non-human primates in large family groups, outdoor corncrib/minicrib combinations for housing macaque and Cercopithecine species, and indoor single housing units for all non-human primate species
We're looking for a Carpenter to join our New Iberia Research Center (NIRC) Team. This position will play a vital role in the construction, repair, and maintenance of buildings and structures to ensure the functionality and safety of our facilities.
Two years of experience or training in the carpentry trade.

Job Duties:
In this role, you will:
Construct, repair, and maintain wooden structures such as partitions, doors, windows, furniture, and scaffolding
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or building plans
Select and order proper materials and tools required for projects
Install floors, walls, ceilings, and roofing components
Ensure that construction complies with applicable codes and safety regulations
Operate hand and power tools to perform tasks with precision and efficiency
Collaborate with other maintenance and construction staff as needed
Maintain clean and safe work environments throughout all job sites
