Traffic Engineer

Job Description

As a Traffic Engineer, you will be the primary data collector in the field, responsible for arranging and overseeing data collection. You will perform specific portions of a broader assignment under the guidance of an experienced engineer, conduct standard computations, and intermediate engineering analysis. Your role includes preparing drawings and visual aids, observing construction activities, and maintaining equipment inventory. You will also perform signal design tasks, quantity estimates, and attend project meetings with staff. Additionally, you will be responsible for writing report sections and conducting basic QA/QC tasks, including reviewing your own work and the work of Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers, and Technicians. Limited supervision of technicians, coordination with municipalities/agencies regarding volumes, accident data, signal timings, and developing and analyzing trip generation and volume are also part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a similar engineering role.
  • Experience in traffic engineering.
  • Experience with roadway and signal analysis.
  • Experience in creating and preparing construction documents.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microstation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Proficiency in INroads, Autoturn, Synchro, Vissim, and GIS.
  • Member of professional practice organization (ASCE).
  • Professional Engineer or EIT certification.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $47.00/hr.
