Structural (Bridge) Engineer Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • NBIS-qualified Team Leader
  • Structural design experience (bridges)
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with contractors, clients, and project partners
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering tools and willingness to learn new software
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S.

Must Haves:

  • Lead and perform NBIS-compliant bridge inspections, including fieldwork and reporting
  • Execute bridge load ratings and develop comprehensive, detailed reports
  • Design new, rehabilitated, and replacement bridge structures for highway, rail, and pedestrian use
  • Coordinate closely with CAD designers and stakeholders to develop construction-ready plans
  • Participate in cost estimating, proposal writing, and project specifications beyond just design tasks

Structural (Bridge) Engineer Preferred Background & Skills:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in MA, RI, or other states
  • Completion of NHI bridge inspection or ancillary structure courses
  • Familiarity with MassDOT, Massport, DCR, and MBTA bridge programs
  • Experience managing multiple phases of a project, from inspection through construction
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to mentor junior engineers
