The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operation of Heavy Equipment at Dodge Ridge in order to construct Bike Trails and Slope Maintenance of Ski runs. This position requires an extremely detail oriented, experienced, safety conscious and responsible candidate. This position is a key and important member of the Dodge Ridge Team.
Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis job description is intended as a summary of the primary responsibilities of and the qualifications for the position. - Perform all duties and responsibilities with a “safety first” attitude when working on all machinery. Complete all tasks with the proper knowledge and use of safety equipment.
- Operate Heavy Equipment and in a variety of terrain.
- Perform regular preventative maintenance on all equipment.
- Daily record keeping of vehicle maintenance records.
- Use of hand tools, constructing trails.
- Perform lift evacuations as needed.
- Must wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task being performed.
- Operate a side by side, as needed, in a safe and proper manner at all times and in a variety of terrain and snow conditions.
- Communicate and collaborate with Ski Patrol, Lift Operations and Maintenance as needed.
- Maintain a neat and orderly workplace in the shop and when in the Heavy equipment.
- Complete ATV/UTV training program if required.
- Answer any questions our guests may have in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Assist with search and rescue operations as assigned.
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment in all weather conditions.
- Knowledge of basic hydraulic systems.
- Basic knowledge of the mechanical operation of heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of vehicle service bulletins.
- Good manual and physical dexterity.
- Ability to learn Dodge Ridge Safety Plan.
- Able to work in tight spaces such as in and around maintenance and heavy equipment and other related equipment.
- Knowledge of basic vehicle electrical circuitry.
- Ability to lift heavy objects weighing at least 50 lbs or more.
- Ability to set goals and see them through to their completion.
- Ability to work well with others and to work independently.
- Knowledge of safe and responsible tool usage and techniques.
- Knowledge of proper and responsible radio usage
- Knowledge of proper and responsible vehicle usage, on and off road.
- Ability to write legibly and to use good composition skills to complete maintenance records.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the Motor Vehicle Record qualifications as outlined in the Fleet Safety Program.

Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees.
When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work up to 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During busy periods, you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.
You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy road surfaces.
Working ConditionsAt any time during the ski season, Dodge Ridge employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.
Work is typically outside with moving objects and it can be noisy, dirty, and dusty. Machinery can cause vibration. It may be cold, wet, or humid. There is also the possibility of working inside mostly with other resort staff members. Sometimes you may be requires to work around mechanical hazards.
UniformsTo project a professional appearance at Dodge Ridge, your department requires a uniform be worn, including a nametag. Please wear both at all times during your scheduled shift.
We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. However, you will be required to provide some items as part of your job, as listed below. (We strongly encourage you to contact your supervisor for a description of the quality, color, and style of the items you are required to provide before you purchase them.)

The skiing/riding employee represents a model for safe skiing for both the guest and fellow employees. You are required to be aware of all safe skiing procedures, trail closures, and out-of-bounds policies.
