Summary: We are currently seeking an experienced supervisor to oversee the operations in the Paint Department, ensuring quality, safety, and production goals are consistently met. This role manages a team of painters and technicians, maintains equipment, enforces safety and environmental compliance, and drives continuous improvement. The position also includes supervision of a body assembly line for medium-size dump bodies, ensuring seamless workflow and quality standards throughout production.
Responsibilities:
- Direct daily paint department operations, including scheduling, workflow, and personnel assignments.
- Oversee the body assembly line to ensure production targets and quality standards are achieved.
- Ensure all painted products meet customer specifications and company quality requirements.
- Maintain and troubleshoot paint equipment, spray booths, and ventilation systems.
- Train, coach, and mentor team members on proper paint techniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve issues, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve processes.
- Manage paint supply inventory and place orders as needed.
- Track and analyze department performance metrics, reporting on productivity, quality, and downtime.
- Lead continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or industrial painting certification preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing paint environment, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of paint application techniques, industrial coating equipment, and safety practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards, PPE requirements, and workplace safety regulations.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement practices preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Education and Experience:
- Associate's Degree or Technical Degree (preferred) or 3+ years of manufacturing operations experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role within manufacturing.
Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to paint fumes, chemicals, and loud machinery.
- Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators when necessary.
- Standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
