Mechanical Design Project Engineer

Job Description

An established Engineering Consulting firm is seeking a Mechanical Design Project Engineer to join their team in Bohemia. This role involves engineering design for HVAC systems, overall MEP engineering design, construction administration, and project management for institutional clients, primarily government-related projects. The Project Engineer will take ownership of projects from design to construction.

Responsibilities

  • Perform load calculations and site surveys.
  • Conduct design reviews and prepare detailed engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Perform field inspections for MEP systems.
  • Manage HVAC/MEP design projects from conception through construction.
  • Engage in construction administration and project management tasks.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering, specifically in HVAC or Plumbing projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD designing with 4+ years' experience.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes such as NYS Energy Code, NYS Mechanical Code, NYS Building Code, and NFPA.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Capability in report writing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with estimating on projects is a plus.
  • Possession of EIT or PE certifications is advantageous, but not mandatory.
Work Environment

The role is based in the Bohemia office with occasional site visits, initially once per week, subject to increase based on project needs. On-site duties include field survey work to observe and assess existing conditions without testing or disassembly. The position offers a generous benefits package with 20 days combined PTO/Sick leave and 10 Federal Holidays. The work environment encourages growth with potential promotion opportunities to Sr Engineer and beyond.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $57.68/hr.
