Position Description & Details:

Bismarck State College is seeking an enthusiastic and results-driven Alumni Development Manager to lead and expand our alumni fundraising efforts at Bismarck State College (BSC). This position is vital in managing the BSC National Alumni Association, fostering relationships with alumni, and promoting future engagement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fundraising, relationship management, and event coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising & Alumni Engagement: Manage and expand BSC Alumni fundraising activities, including solicitation, stewardship, and relationship building.
  • Alumni Association Management: Oversee the BSC National Alumni Association and its Board of Directors, ensuring effective operations and engagement.
  • Student & Alumni Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with students and student organizations to encourage future involvement in the BSC Alumni Association.

Duties:

Develops Donor Relationships & Manages Alumni Fundraising

  • Solicit annual gifts from the alumni base, identifying new prospects and cultivating existing relationships.
  • Analyze the alumni database to identify prospects and fundraising opportunities.
  • Research and cultivate a pool of planned gift prospects and potential donors.
  • Manage alumni renewals and create strategies to reconnect with lapsed alumni.
  • Develop and implement campaigns and other fundraising initiatives.
  • Create and execute annual strategic plans for alumni fundraising, in collaboration with the BSC Foundation and Mystic Athletic Club.
  • Identify, enlist, train, and support volunteers and students to assist with alumni fundraising programs, events, and activities.
  • Oversee the use of the prospect data and management system to maximize fundraising efforts.
  • Maintain accurate alumni database, create reports, analyze data, and recommend strategies to increase donations.

Alumni Association Management

  • Leads, plans, and coordinate all Alumni Association Board of Directors and committee meetings, activities, and correspondence.
  • Develop and implement programs, activities, and projects that align with the goals of the Alumni Association.
  • Design and implement communications and outreach initiatives through print and digital platforms to engage alumni creatively.
  • Maintain and regularly update the alumni website to ensure current and accurate information.

Special Programs & Events Coordination

  • Manage special events, including the BSC Alumni Dinner and other fundraising and engagement events as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Appropriate bachelor's degree with four years of related experience, or an appropriate associate degree with six years of related experience.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, establish credibility and create a positive impression of the BSC Foundation & BSC Alumni Association with a variety of people (students, alumni, staff, faculty, board members and public).
  • Demonstrated experience of successful fundraising or similar sales experience and building and maintaining relationship-based programs.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills and strong listening skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to handle multiple activities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, take initiative and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Excellent computer skills (e.g., Microsoft office products, donor management software and managing data).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate high integrity and ethical behavior.
  • Must be willing to travel, attend evening and weekend events and meetings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • More than four years of related experience.
  • Experience in fundraising for Higher Education
  • Graduate of Bismarck State College.
  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE).
  • Event planning experience.
