Position Summary
The Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the manufacturing operations at our new IBM Drive facility. This position is responsible for ensuring efficient production workflows, maintaining high standards of workplace safety, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and enhance overall operational performance. The successful candidate will lead and develop a diverse team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence. By closely monitoring employee performance and operational metrics, the Operations Manager will identify opportunities to streamline processes and implement best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee short- and mid-term production scheduling
- Manage daily manufacturing operations and shift performance
- Champion a strong 5S and safety culture across the facility
- Lead and evolve the technician training and qualification program
- Ensure inventory accuracy and manage supply chain logistics
- Serve as ERP super user for production and inventory functions
- Support recruiting, onboarding, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions
- Track payroll, vacation, and administer access control systems
- Represent and promote Barrday’s core values throughout the organization
- Provide input into operations budgeting, engineering priorities, and maintenance planning
Key Projects
- Develop and implement a comprehensive safety training program with documentation
- Build supervisory capabilities among lead technicians to support career growth
- Launch and sustain a visual workplace through a robust 5S program
- Create and maintain a technician training and qualification system with records
- Organize warehouse layout and bin system for optimal efficiency
- Establish a recycling program for plant waste
- Design and implement visible production metrics and performance tracking tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations or plant management
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Experience with ERP systems
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Proven track record in safety, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement
