Estimator for Janitorial/Cleaning Company-Gaithersburg, MD

My client serves as a trusted and valued partner to commercial, government, and residential clients throughout the DMV. They are based out of Washington, DC, with key divisions that include Commercial Cleaning, Demolition, Site Labor and Disaster Restoration.

The Estimator is responsible for writing winning client proposals and project budgets for each of the company's janitorial, construction cleaning, final cleaning, window cleaning and selective interior demolition service divisions.

Responsibilities include:

Conducts weekly research to source new viable bid opportunities for the company to pursue through a combination of sources such as Bid Portals, Client Websites and Project Status Portals (e.g. Construction Journal).

Tracks ongoing research efforts performed and results gained. Reports out weekly at scheduled BD meeting.

Prepares winning budgets/proposals by means of studying client plans, scopes of work and various bid documents, conducting industry research, and surveying job sites.

Gathers feedback from Senior Estimator, and/or Executive Team, on budgets/proposals and submits each through Bid Portal or direct to the client by no later than each posted due date.

Actively engages with clients on requests for bids, prioritizing by telephone conversation first, to further our engagement with the client, promote awareness of the company's total service capabilities, ensure proper understanding of Scopes of Work, all with a goal of producing a winning outcome.

Regularly participates in job walks to support winning outcomes for the company's overall estimating/bidding process. Returns timely & thorough feedback to Senior Estimator on each requested walk so that all stated bid deadlines are strictly met.

On a minimum monthly schedule, attends and actively participates in internal & external industry networking and client relationship building events.

Engages in conversation with both current and prospective clients to deepen existing clients' understanding of and educate new clients on the company's total service capabilities.

Maintains timely & accurate record of all budgets/proposals in the company CRM (Freshsales) to include keying of all newly submitted bids, and updates bid records

Provides timely, professional, and thorough e-announcements to the company management team on each newly awarded project.

Works effectively as a team with all peers, supervisors, and customers, including communicating and interrelating in a positive and professional manner.

Position Requirements:

A minimum of three (3) years of winning and profitable estimate writing experience required with thorough working knowledge of reading plans, scopes of work and various bid documents.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite a must..

Must possess clear communication skills.

Must demonstrate a customer-focused approach at all times.

Must be a team player.

High attention to detail a must.

Must pass criminal background check including drug screen.

Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
