Operates, maintains, and monitors all electrical distribution systems, boilers, chillers, air handling equipment, vacuum pumps, medical air compressors, and associated equipment. Operates and understands the energy management system. Performs building maintenance, including plumbing, plumbing systems, and general maintenance tasks. Assists all vendors/contractors with required maintenance for all life-safety systems as needed. Rotating on-call and or non-regular shift may be required. Disposes of hazardous waste in appropriate receptacles. Ensures hazardous waste containers are labeled appropriately and covered at all times. Notes date and time and transports filled waste container to proper storage area for disposal. Arranges for transport and disposal of hazardous wastes (if applicable). Utilizes computers to perform Computer Maintenance Management Program (CMMP) to receive, track and close-out work orders. Maintains all necessary all documentation and testing logs to ensure compliance with JCAHO, Federal and/or State requirements. The incumbent may drive a Mayo Clinic vehicle on a regular or occasional basis. High School Diploma/GED required. Minimum five years' preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair experience, which includes three years' central plant operations experience to include testing and understanding water chemistry. Requires basic understanding of Windows based software and the ability to utilize preventative maintenance program(s). Completion of a two-year vocational/technical school program in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, or mechanical preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in blue print reading, basic electrical, HVAC and mechanical troubleshooting. Demonstrated ability to utilize lock-out/tag-out and adhere to various life safety policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to utilize computers. Demonstrated ability to work with minimal direct supervision. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including the ability to read, write and speak English. Demonstrated self-starter and ability to take initiative, escalating issues as needed and appropriate. Demonstrated customer service skills and willingness to work as a team member. Must be able to perform in a team setting with minimal supervision. Experience with hospital or clinic utilities preferred. Valid Arizona driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle record required. Refrigeration certificate or license preferred.
