Job Overview:
With the assistance of the Manager of Plant Operations, the Lead HVAC Technicians responsibility includes overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. This role often involves complex troubleshooting, system upgrades, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Formal training equivalent to a related program in an accredited vocational school
- 1-3 years experience directly related to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning field
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Valid New Jersey Drivers License
- Valid HVAC certification EPA 6-8 Universal CFC
- Blue Seal Refrigeration license preferred
Scheduling Requirement:
- 7:00am-3:30pm
- Monday-Friday with occasional weekend and holiday shifts
- Full Time
Essential Functions:
- Assists with large, major repairs and overhaul work
- Attends meetings, conferences, workshops and seminars
- Checks steam system for proper pressures and makes the necessary repairs to steam regulators, steam traps, piping and controls
- Checks, adjusts and balances air handler systems to insure proper flow and temperatures
- Cleans and/or replaces air handling filters on a scheduled basis
- Inspects, checks and maintains daily all heating and air conditioning systems to operate in an energy efficient manner
- Inspects, repairs and balances bearings, shafts and pulleys on fans, pumps and motors
- Maintains building temperatures at prescribed levels by operating and utilizing the Graphic Central and Delta 1000 computer energy management system
- Maintains proper water treatment conditions for cooling towers and reheat systems by chemical analysis
- Paints related equipment and surrounding areas
- Performs all other duties as job flexibility is prescribed
- Performs preventative maintenance inspections on all heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment, medical gas systems and associated equipment
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled lubrication of moving parts on all equipment
- Snow removal duties as conditions dictate
- Winterizes and properly protects air conditioning systems from freezing
