Mechanical Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with a Minnesota Professional Engineer (PE) license to join our expanding engineering team in a Lead Engineer role. This position, based at our Shakopee location, involves working closely with the Engineering Department Manager and offers flexible working hours, including options for remote work in specific situations. The role focuses on producing plumbing and mechanical construction documents, 3D models, and sleeve layout drawings. Additionally, the Engineering Department provides expertise in project scope development, equipment selection, pricing, and technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Possess a Professional Engineering License (Mechanical) in Minnesota with the ability to become licensed in other states.
  • Act as the signing engineer for all construction document deliverables for assigned projects.
  • Supervise and mentor design staff, serving as the primary engineering point of contact for projects.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Project Manager to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Lead coordination efforts with external clients, including owners, architects, and trade contractors (Electrical, Structural, Civil, etc.).
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for internal clients, including project managers, field superintendents, and foremen in sheet metal, plumbing, and piping, as well as the VDC department, estimators, and purchasing managers.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment to make quick decisions in challenging environments, often with limited or conflicting information.
Essential Skills
  • Mechanical engineering expertise.
  • Proficiency in HVAC systems.
  • Experience with Revit and Revit MEP.
  • Strong mechanical design skills.
  • Project management capabilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in collaborating with project managers and field personnel.
  • Ability to mentor and lead design staff.
  • Experience in coordinating with various stakeholders, including trade contractors.
Work Environment

The position requires working in the office five days a week with flexibility for remote work as needed. The work environment is dynamic, with a focus on collaboration and innovation, utilizing advanced technologies and tools.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Shakopee, Minnesota.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
