Job Description

We are seeking an ASE certified Diesel Mechanic to join our team and work on equipment that supports a steel manufacturing operation. The mechanic will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial equipment and machinery such as trailers, forklifts, and company vehicles. This role ensures the operational efficiency of equipment to support production goals and maintains a safe working environment by adhering to maintenance schedules and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks, heavy equipment, forklifts, trailers, and company vehicles.

• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues using schematics, blueprints, and manuals.

• Conduct preventive maintenance and DOT inspections to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.

• Calibrate and lubricate machinery components as needed.

• Adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.

• Utilize power tools and precision measuring instruments effectively.

Essential Skills

• ASE certification specific for Diesel Mechanics.

• Experience working with diesel trucks and heavy equipment.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.

• Strong understanding of preventive maintenance and DOT inspection procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge in calibration, lubrication, and hydraulics.

• Experience with power tools and precision measuring instruments.

Work Environment

The work schedule is from 10 AM to 6:30 PM, with potential flexibility. The position is based in a shop with equipment in an outdoor yard environment, within a manufacturing plant setting characterized by noise, machinery, and varying temperatures. The role requires hands-on work and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bernalillo, New Mexico.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
