We're seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform general maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction duties, utilizing a working knowledge of several related skill fields, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, painting, and machinist work. You will inspect, repair, install, and maintain physical facilities, locks, and maintain and repair machinery and equipment, maintain all DSHS-operated facilities and associated equipment across Maple Lane Campus.
Some of what you'll do:
- Performs semi-skilled and sub-journey work in the maintenance, repair, remodeling, alterations, and construction of buildings, grounds, facilities, and equipment.
- Performs semi-skilled work, under the technical direction of a journey-level trades worker in carpentry, plumbing, welding, metal fabrication, steam fitting, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, and machinist works.
- Operates hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment as needed; performs minor repairs on building fixtures, plumbing, heating, laundry and kitchen equipment, motors, and electrical appliances.
- Assist in the fabrication of equipment and materials constructed in trade shops in accordance with project requirements.
- Maintains, repairs, and performs small modifications to building-installed plumbing to include, but not limited to water fountains, sinks, faucets, water heaters, toilets, irrigation, floor drains, and associated pumping equipment.
- Maintains and repairs low-voltage-building associated electrical equipment, and mechanical fixtures on all equipment within the facilities including, but not limited to air conditioning and heating (HVAC), laundry, lighting, kitchen, maintenance, grounds, security equipment, and all other program-associated equipment, except medical.
- Adherence to safety rules and precautions during all division-related activities.
- Performs monthly backup power generation tests in accordance with NFPA 110.
Who should apply?
- High school graduation or possession of a GED certificate.
- A valid state driver's license is required.
- Two years of experience as a maintenance worker in building and equipment maintenance, construction, and/or repair/work.
- Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration

- Ability to drive and operate a variety of vehicles and equipment such as trucks, vans, and forklifts.
- Ability to operate automotive equipment to transport materials and supplies.
- Ability to transport laundry to and from the point of use and the industrial laundry.
- Ability to transport mail to and from the local post office to program staff.
