Job Title: Welder I
Purpose for the position:
Performs GMAW welding on Non-Critical welds by ACSI welding procedure specifications; GMAW welding of Aluminum may be required. Welds include cabinets and related sheet steel products, container doors, and other Non-Critical attachment welds on containers up to and including 3/16" thickness.
The employee holding this position must perform work activities in a correct, accurate, and timely manner.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
An individual must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities, or be able to demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some combination of skills and abilities. Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position are:
- Ability to complete welding tests by AWS D1.3 Welding Code for fillet, lap, and corner joints, and plug welds in sheet steel and/or AWS D1.2 Welding Code for Aluminum.
- Ability to carry out not only simple but also complex oral and written instructions and deal with problems from standardized situations and work experience.
- Ability to communicate well with supervisors, lead-man, and other co-workers.
- Ability to read engineering drawings to determine weld size requirements.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and/or moving of 100 pounds and over, with frequent lifting and/or carrying odd-shaped objects weighing up to 75 pounds, and up to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Ability to comprehend additional training about performing the work duties.
Physical demands:
Most of the work tasks (90 %) are performed indoors and subject to environmental and weather condition changes.
Hours: 5:30 PM - 3:30 AM, MONDAY - FRIDAY
Week: 40 to 50 hours per week, sometimes more.
Lunch: Half an hour.
Sitting: 25% of the time
Stands: 75 % of the time.
Environment:
- Exposed to dust, heat, humidity, fumes, cold and dampness when working Shop is not air-conditioned.
Physical task:
- Must climb and work at heights over 5 feet if needed.
- Must climb ladders if needed.
- Must push and pull heavy weights while performing job duties.
- Must walk around the department and plant area to perform daily work.
Stress:
- May work night shift and extended hours to meet work demands.
- Requires high degree of concentration while performing welding and/or repairs.
- May work continuously several hours without a break.
- May work in small areas and/or confined spaces.
- Must stand on hard surfaces to perform work task.
- Must perform welding work in awkward positions-vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.
- May work quickly and have pressure of deadlines and production demands.
- Must stay focused on the work at hand while performing safely.
Other Ergonomics Requirements:
The position of Welder I is a physically demanding job. The functions performed ordinarily involve: extending hands and arms in all directions, holding, grasping, pressing, turning objects using hands, picking, lifting, pinching, or otherwise working with fingers.

Qualifications Standards:
- Prior welding experience required -GMAW.
- Applicants will be required to take and pass a drug test prior to employment.
- Inconsistent information, of any kind, necessary to complete the hiring process will be ground for dismissal.
