We are looking for a Press Brake & Roll Operator to join our team! This position rolls steel plates or other heavy plates to desired curvature by passing plate through roll machine. Hoists plate to level of rolls and inserts one edge under top roll, which is mounted directly above and centered between three bottom rolls. Operates HMI or manual controls to lower top roll onto plate. Starts roll program, which draws plate between the rolls, shaping it into an arc. Continues with program or manual controls to adjust top and side rolls passing plate between rolls until plate of correct curvature is obtained, which is determined by using a holding a template or radius gauge to the plate.

This is a full-time, union-hourly position located in Lancaster, PA. Hours are Monday-Friday, 6 AM - 2:30 PM; Overtime and Saturdays as needed (maximum of two required 6 AM - 12 PM).

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Sets up brake and prepares plate for rolling by forming ends to proper radii.
  • May be required to check machine tolerances and assist in changing top roll per operational needs.
  • Keeps notes on setpoints, rolling procedures, program creation and programing adjustments.
  • Keeps work area and machine clean and free of tripping hazards.
  • Lubricates Faccin Rolls on given schedule as required/directed.
  • Cleans (wipe down, vacuum, etc.) Faccin Rolls on given schedule as required/directed.
  • Completes ongoing training as required.
  • Bends material for various operations and any other work required for making of a boiler or its trim.
  • Rolls plate for outside wrapper, furnace combustion chamber or any other parts of boiler or its trim that may require rolling.
  • Uses templates to measure proper diameters and radii.
  • Rolls and bends material to diameter or angle as per instructions put on material by layout man.
  • Aligns and tack welds plate edges when required.
  • Use all necessary plate rolling and press brake equipment as required.
  • Operates pendant controlled crane to move material in and out of brake and rolls.
  • Directs helper or assistant or other classification assigned to assist him in the above operations.
  • Plans work on irregularly shaped pieces. Sets up and adjusts forming rolls for various thickness of metals. Exercises judgment in estimating amount of spring in material which might affect the rolling.
  • Performs plate grinding or other plate prep work as production demands require.
  • May be required to operate powered lift truck.
  • Performs related work as directed commensurate with this or lesser rated labor grades.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with measuring tools
  • Ability to read blueprints and/or diagrams
