Maintenance & Infrastructure Project Engineer

at Universe Carrier in Melrose Park, Illinois, United States Job Description Job Duties: - Plan and manage construction, renovation, and repair projects across company facilities. - Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and scopes of work for infrastructure upgrades. - Oversee contractors to ensure compliance with engineering standards and local codes. - Conduct site inspections and approve completed work. - Conduct installation and retrofitting of HVAC systems, including design input for energy efficiency and climate control. - Coordinate system diagnostics, upgrades, and maintenance with field technicians. - Evaluate and improve facility electrical systems, including smart controls and emergency systems. - Conduct needs assessments for facility layout, repair bay design, heating/cooling loads, and equipment capacity. - Develop proposals and timelines for facility upgrades or new construction. - Assist in warehouse expansion, truck maintenance bay renovations, and new equipment integration. - Maintain documentation for inspections, maintenance logs, and safety assessments. - Implement preventative maintenance strategies and energy-efficient solutions. - Work closely with operations, logistics, and fleet maintenance teams to minimize downtime during construction or maintenance activities. Special requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. - Must have 3 years of experience in facility infrastructure, HVAC/electrical systems, and construction engineering. - Proficiency in AutoCad, ArhiCad, Audytor SET software, Primavera P6 or MS Project; - Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS) for commercial applications; - Cost estimation and budgeting for civil projects; - Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and project management skills.
