Job Description:

  • Effectively lead the Operating Departments at the Delavan Plant including the Forming, Finishing, Quality, and Service Departments. Oversee 1 General Foremen, 1 Foreman, 4 Hourly Supervisors and approximately 20 hourly employees.
  • Responsible for training, motivating, and maintaining a high level of safety for all department employees to ensure an efficient operation, consistent with overall company safety objectives.
  • Demonstrate the ability to proactively develop and implement specific strategies to meet efficiency goals. Responsible for ensuring departments are following all USG and external compliance bulletins.
  • Recognizes employees' strengths and development needs, provides coaching, and motivates employees on an individual basis and as a team. Ability to generate a training and development plan which will provide a flexible and efficient workforce to meet increased demand. Development of a realistic succession plan is essential.
  • Ability to develop successful relationships with manufacturing, engineering, tech services, research, sales, and customers to determine product specifications and maximize product reliability and acceptance. Highly developed technical skills with an ability to propel the plant forward by recognizing and implementing advancements in automation and technology.
  • Establish a strong relationship with engineering and reliability to drive priorities to meet plant productivity goals. Share responsibility with the Reliability Manager, Production General Foreman, Maintenance Supervisor, and Planner to define work order schedules. Also, shares responsibility to develop and implement corrective action identified through reliability investigations in a timely manner to ensure physical, electrical and mechanical asset health to the maximum extent possible.
  • Supports and implements CI strategies at the plant. Coaches and engages all employees using LEAN tools and processes to encourage a continuous improvement atmosphere.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and Previous Leadership Experience (preferred)
  • Demonstrate organizational skills with strong communication and public speaking skills.
  • Supports all change initiatives with enthusiasm and involves others in the change process.
  • Knowledge of safety compliance programs with a strong emphasis on safety and housekeeping. A proponent of innovative change in safety with a propensity for motivating employees to new levels of safety awareness and engagement.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick, accurate decisions. Strategic thinker with a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished.
  • A desire to actively manage and develop others; provide guidance and recognition in conjunction with USG's philosophy of talent management and retention.
  • Capacity to relate well to employees at all levels and effectively build rapport.

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
