POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

KKCS is seeking experienced Construction Inspectors to support Los Angeles World Airports’ (LAWA) civil construction inspection team as part of the Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division. This role will oversee multiple projects within LAWA’s Capital Improvement Program, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements. This is a full-time, onsite position with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM . Additional flexibility may be required for overtime, swing, night, and weekend shifts to meet project needs. Successful candidates must provide proof of Cal-OSHA 30-hour training within the last four years prior to official start.

Essential Job Duties

• Inspect reinforced concrete structures , including pile foundations, roadways, and bridges across multiple jurisdictions.
• Conduct inspections for the installation of sanitary sewer and storm drain systems , including related structures, per City and County of Los Angeles Standards.
• Perform inspections of street lighting and traffic signal systems in accordance with Bureau of Street Lighting and LADOT specifications.
• Ensure compliance with City of Los Angeles Standard Plans/Specifications , the Public Works Construction Greenbook , and Cal-Trans Standard Plans and Specifications .
• Monitor and enforce multi-phased, site-specific traffic control plans , emphasizing pedestrian safety and routing.
• Apply knowledge of and enforce Cal-OSHA, Contractor, and LAWA safety requirements .
• Prepare and submit daily inspection reports documenting construction activities, issues, deficiencies, and safety concerns.
• Assist in reviewing and approving contractor monthly progress payment requests based on completed work.
• Collaborate within a large team of inspectors and maintain professional communication with contractors, engineers, and project managers.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of inspection experience on Cal-Trans bridge, roadway, and structure projects
• 5+ years of public works field inspection (heavy civil and roadway construction)
• Expertise in utility infrastructure, sewer/storm drain installation, and traffic control measures
• Strong knowledge of City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, and Cal-Trans Standards
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
• Proficiency with PMIS systems and software such as PM Web, ProCore, Bluebeam, Adobe Pro, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Office Suite
• High school diploma (or equivalent)
• Completion of 30-hour Cal-OSHA training within the last 4 years (required prior to assignment)

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10+ years of public works field inspection experience
• Current Cal-Trans test method certifications (100, 200, 300, and 500 series)
• Current City of Los Angeles Deputy Inspector Licenses (Grading, Concrete, Post Tension)
