The Engineering Technician, Prototyping role is responsible for prototype creation in support of new product development, regularly using multiple skilled trades techniques to produce models and components. This includes bringing a product from concept design through, prototyping, development, testing, and verification/validation phases. This individual will also be responsible for machine maintenance, calibration, and routine servicing of equipment as well as maintaining a clean working environment throughout the shop. These responsibilities will be taken on under the guidance of senior Technicians who will support the growth of the candidate.

Out-of-shop duties include brainstorming meetings with Engineering, Industrial Design, and Advanced Development teams to provide project feedback. This Technician will also work within their team on process improvements, new technology, shop layouts, and more to improve quality and efficiency.

Skills:

Work with New Product Development staff to solve problems and produce high quality parts, prototypes in a timely fashion

Understand and use proper machining techniques (speeds, feeds, cutting conditions, etc.) to produce parts on mills, lathes, grinders, and general shop equipment in a prototype setting

Accurately read and understand engineering drawings

Use CAM or Conversational CNC programming

Maintain an adequate inventory of shop supplies, raw materials, and tooling as necessary to meet scheduled needs

Ensures that all safety procedures are followed

Maintain top operating condition of tools and equipment

Clean equipment, tools and work area after the job is completed

Skills/Requirements

Technical Diploma, Associate Degree, or Journeyman's card in a related field, or an equivalency in experience is preferred.

Minimum of five years' experience in machine or die shop with demonstrated high performance levels preferred.

Working knowledge of MasterCAM design/programming software and CREO preferred, other design/programming software ability is a plus

Experience with multiple skilled trades knowledge like CNC programing/operation, manual machining, fabrication, molding/casting, tool building, and general construction is preferred.

The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
