Job Summary:
The Safety Trainer is overall responsibility for development, implementation, and reporting for Ampirical' s safety training programs. This role will design and execute job specific training curriculum focused on utility construction hazards in accordance with OSHA, DOT, and NESC standards. The Safety Trainer will partner with the safety managers, operations leadership team, and field personnel to ensure a comprehensive training program that builds upon our safety culture and ensures safe work practices across the organization. The Safety Trainer is an essential member of our operations execution team and plays an extremely important role in ensuring work is completely safely each and every day. This individual will report to the Director of Safety.

The salary range for this position is $90,000-$110,000, dependent upon experience and qualifications. We also offer semi-annual profit-sharing bonuses based on company profits to share in the mutual success!

Who You Are:
- 7 + years of combined experience in safety management is required
- Familiarity with all applicable safety regulations, including OSHA and DOT regulations
- Experience building and implementing safety training materials and curriculum
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex data insights in a clear and impactful manner
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail
- Strong people skills
- The ability to travel for work demands as needed
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Power BI.
- Initiative-taking, self-motivated, and detail-oriented personality type.
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 4 year Bachelor Degree preferred, but not required
- Must be willing to travel up to 10%
Essential Responsibilities & Duties:
- Create and conduct safety training programs focused on utility construction hazards (e.g., trenching, confined spaces, electrical safety, traffic control)
- Train field crews, engineers, and subcontractors on OSHA, DOT, and NESC standards
- Provide specialized instruction on equipment operation, PPE use, and emergency response
- Lead comprehensive safety onboarding for all new hires, including field and office personnel
- Introduce company safety policies, procedures, and expectations
- Ensure new employees understand job-specific hazards and required safety practices before entering the field
- Use field observations, quizzes, and hands-on assessments to measure knowledge retention
- Adjust training content based on incident trends, audit findings, and employee feedback
- Track certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid, Flagger, Competent Person) and ensure compliance
- Maintain digital and physical records for audits and regulatory inspections
- Conduct job site visits to reinforce training and observe safety practices in action
- Provide coaching and corrective feedback to crews in real-time
- Monitor updates from OSHA, ANSI, NFPA 70E, and local utility commissions
- Integrate new technologies and methods (e.g., drone safety, GIS-based hazard mapping) into training
- Champion safety awareness campaigns and toolbox talks
- Recognize safe behaviors and encourage peer-to-peer accountability
- Manage Learning Management Systems (LMS) for scheduling and tracking
- Incorporate video, VR, and mobile apps to enhance engagement and accessibility
- Collaborate with HR leadership and the Development Program Manager to align safety training with organizational learning goals
- Ensure consistency in training delivery across departments and locations
- Support integration of safety training into broader employee development programs
