Project Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced professional to lead complex utility projects from initiation through closeout. The successful candidate will manage projects primarily related to low voltage distribution, both overhead and underground, and will be based in the northern region. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, clients, and regulatory stakeholders to meet or exceed scope, schedule, and budget expectations.

Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of project management: planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout.
• Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure project execution.
• Track and manage project budgets, schedules, and risks.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
• Prepare status reports, forecasts, and presentations for clients and leadership.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety protocols, and industry standards.
• Mentor and support project team members including coordinators and field staff.
• Monitor projects from conception to completion, ensuring all steps are completed in a timely manner.
• Work with area LVD Planning Engineering Managers, LVD designers, Real Estate Project Managers, Program Resource Planners to balance workload.
• Manage project scheduling within allocated hours to ensure successful completion of Low Voltage Distribution (LVD) jobs.
• Coordinate with Joint use companies for underground projects.
• Initiate operating reviews and project walkdowns with key stakeholders as needed.
• Assist with balancing the statewide workplan with budget and resource availability.
• Collaborate with Program Cost Engineers on project actuals vs. planned costs to ensure timely updates and forecasts.
• Participate in problem-solving and lean management efforts to improve processes and gain efficiencies.

• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of project management and utility experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, Power BI, and SharePoint.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

• PMP certification or equivalent preferred.
• Experience related to utility work, including LVD, Substation, Transmission, and Underground utility.

Remote from home along with traveling to multiple utility construction sites in Northern Michigan.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Direct hire position based out of the norther territory of Michigan (West Branch, Traverse City just to name a few cities)

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $48.08/hr.
