Position Description

QuesTec Mechanical is expanding into the Kansas City market, and we're looking for a skilled HVAC/R Service Technician to help us launch and grow our new branch. This is a unique opportunity to take on a high-impact role where your expertise will directly shape our success in a new region.

As an HVAC/R Service Technician, you'll be responsible for the troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and installation of HVAC and related equipment. You'll manage daily service routes and projects with efficiency and professionalism, while maintaining strong relationships with clients and representing QuesTec with integrity.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Works closely with other HVAC/R Service Techs to expertly install, repair, maintain or replace heating, cooling systems, ventilation, refrigeration and or component parts according to requirements

HVAC/R Technicians often work independently to install, repair, maintain or replace HVAC/R units, systems or component parts

Travels to job sites in service area and follows direction of Dispatcher to ensure client schedule is maintained to the best of the Service Tech's ability

Res work schedule daily to adhere to and optimize work hours

Follows systematic questioning techniques and troubleshooting guidelines to determine unit/equipment functionality and/or failure

Accurately communicates unit/equipment issues to manager and clients

Promptly and accurately completes all required paperwork daily, documenting in detail all work performed and/or installed as well as all-time associated with calls/projects

Available to service emergency calls on weekdays, weeknights and weekends, as needed

SECONDARY DUTIES

Maintains vehicle and tools weekly, keeping equipment clean and ready for work

Communicates with Dispatcher to mitigate scheduling conflicts and delays

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks

Interest in growing with a company and taking on leadership responsibilities

Actively seeks opportunities to enhance client systems

Provides Sales with qualified leads and alerts Sales to competitive sales efforts

Participate in meetings, workshops, training and seminars as required

Other duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee is regularly exposed to moderate levels of heat, cold, moisture, wind and sun.

The noise level in the work environment is low with an occasional exposure to moderate levels.

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of four years of experience in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and correcting a diverse array of HVAC service issues

Knowledge of commercial mechanical and electrical systems

Strong analytical skills with the ability to read and interpret diagrams, plans and manuals

Attention to detail and quality of work performed

Ability to work independently, with excellent time management skills

Good communications skills, both written and verbal

Good organizational skills

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; Associate degree from accredited technical school in the HVAC program preferred

Journeyman license preferred

EPA certification

Valid class E driver's license and clean driving record

Valid social security number

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on own

Ability to push, pull, carry and maneuver heavy items (with additional manpower or appropriate tools)

Ability to lift ladders from vehicle racks, carry and climb ladders up to 28' in length

Ability to withstand long periods of standing, squatting, stooping and crawling (stationary positions up to 50% of time)

Ability to feel, grasp, operate and position items with fingers and hands

Ability to effectively perform work at ground level, above ground level, below ground level and in confined spaces
