MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- 1-5 years experience in Electrical Engineering, New Product Design and Development

- Experience in military programs desired
ABOUT THE JOB!
As an Electrical Engineer at Gentex you will conceive, design, develop, evaluate and document electrical circuits and systems. You contribute to the design and manufacturing of the electrical systems such as air and ground communication headsets, microphones, power and data management systems and much more. You will work hand in hand with an interdisciplinary team to transition products to production as part of the New Product Development team. Work with mechanical, systems, acoustic and manufacturing engineering as you develop and progress new products through the development life cycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the detailed design, schematic capture, and layout of electronic circuits (RF, power, digital, and analog).
- Create detailed system block diagrams.
- Coordinate with software developers to define hardware/software interface.
- Record, analyze and interpret test data using appropriate mathematical and/or statistical techniques.
- Prepare and present technical reports, recommendations and presentations related to development and design studies, product and process investigations.
- Assist and coordinate with other engineers, designers and technicians in the execution of electrical engineering related product design and development activities.
- Integrate product design efforts with manufacturing, product assurance and logistic support functions to ensure product designs that are producible and maintainable.
- Review designs improve reliability, testability, and ease of manufacture.
- Work with Program Managers to report regularly on project status and progress.
- Help design and develop appropriate test equipment and test procedures to characterize electrical properties of components and assemblies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience in digital design with embedded controllers and/or digital signal processors
- Experience in analog and/or audio design, such as microphone amplifiers, audio filters, switching voltage regulators, etc.
- Proficiency with modern schematic capture and layout tools.
- Experience collaborating with mechanical engineers developing systems from initial concepts.
- Proficiency with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, DVMs, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers etc.
- Ability to create technical documents and presentations with general computer applications such as word processor (MS Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel), presentation software (MS PowerPoint), etc.
- Ability to review mixed-signal PCB layout for good signal integrity and EMI performance.
- Able to work in small multi-disciplinary teams with minimal supervision.
Additional desired skills:
- Experience with EMI measurement and mitigation techniques desired.
- Experience with embedded firmware and/or software for real-time code execution desired.
- Knowledge of signal processing and controls techniques in software, IIR, FIR, SOS, PID, etc.
- Knowledge of RF design concepts and applying performance criteria, measurement techniques and test instrumentation desired.
- Micropower design experience for battery applications desired.
