What You'll Do:
- Lead mechanical engineering for conveyor system projects from concept through installation
- Design conveyor equipment, structures, supports, and layouts to meet customer specifications and industry standards
- Develop 2D drawings, 3D models, bills of materials (BOM), and detailed fabrication/installation documents
- Perform calculations for loads, stress, tolerances, materials, and safety factors
- Ensure designs comply with OSHA, ANSI, ISO, and other safety standards
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers, and installation teams for complete system integration
- Specify materials, components, and fabricated parts for procurement
- Provide technical support during manufacturing, assembly, installation, and commissioning
- Oversee factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site installation to maintain design integrity
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and support continuous improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of mechanical project engineering experience, preferably in automotive, conveyor, or material handling industries
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of material selection, fabrication, welding, machining, and structural design
- Familiarity with conveyor systems, industrial automation, and material handling solutions
- Experience preparing and reviewing detailed mechanical drawings and fabrication packages
- Solid understanding of industry safety standards and mechanical codes
- Strong project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Willingness to travel to customer sites for installation and commissioning (up to 25-30%)
