Mechanical Piping Technician II

  • The Mechanical Piping Technician II is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical piping systems while ensuring adherence to safety regulations and industry standards. The role involves supervising teams, coordinating daily activities, conducting inspections, managing schedules, and collaborating with project stakeholders to achieve design optimizations and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently install and maintain mechanical piping systems, ensuring proper routing, secure connections, and adherence to approved project specifications.
  • Perform tasks such as cutting, threading, welding, brazing, and joining pipes using various mechanical techniques.
  • Plan and lead team efforts in rectifying material shortages, including sourcing replacement connectors and fittings to minimize delays.
  • Conduct leak testing, pressure testing, and system functionality inspections to ensure the safety and reliability of piping installations.
  • Monitor the quality and efficiency of installations, verifying compliance with regulatory, safety, and project-specific requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during equipment installation, including alignment, leak detection, and performance calibration.
  • Oversee daily team schedules, ensuring resource optimization and timely completion of project milestones.
  • Collaborate closely with other trades, project managers, and engineers to address technical challenges, resolve design conflicts, and optimize workflows.
  • Provide mentorship and training to team members, focusing on skill enhancement, safety adherence, and professional development.
  • Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6 years of mechanical piping installation and maintenance experience
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Technical Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical piping systems, including EXH, PCW, piping support, installation and testing procedures.
  • Ability to lead and supervise a team for mechanical piping installation and troubleshooting.
  • Risk assessment and mitigation for high-pressure or hazardous material handling.
  • Skilled in conducting inspections to ensure compliance with mechanical piping codes and standards.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and coordinate teams for mechanical piping installation and maintenance.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong technical expertise in troubleshooting and integrating equipment with piping systems.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities to navigate technical challenges and stakeholder requirements.

  • Capable of lifting materials, working on ladders/lifts, and standing for long periods of time

  • Ability to travel to overseas for training for extended periods (length depends on business needs).

Shift Expectations:

  • TSMC Arizona operates 24/7, 365 days a year. This position requires candidate to have ability and willingness to work any shift (day or night) in a compressed work week schedule once training is done. The compressed work week shift structure is Work 4 days on, 3 days off for one week and 3 days on, 4 days off the next week. Shift is 12 hour shifts from 6am to 6pm or 6pm to 6am.
