Operations Manager Job Description We are seeking a skilled Operations Manager to oversee the operations of an electronics and fiber optic test equipment production facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics and a proven ability to manage and lead teams in a production environment. Responsibilities Manage the operation of an electronics/fiber optic test equipment production facility. Ensure all products are available for sale as required, within budget, and meet agreed quality standards. Perform Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMA) as per company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Act as the local manager for the Rockaway team and site, fostering a culture of pace, precision, and partnership. Improve processes, standardize reporting, and remove friction to gain efficiencies. Motivate the Production and Warehouse team to purchase, build, test, and calibrate products to meet the production schedule and ensure on-time, full shipments to customers. Plan the production schedule according to business requirements. Purchase components to ensure on-time, full shipments while minimizing working capital. Communicate production delays and component issues to key stakeholders. Document and update all production build and purchase information, managing the Engineering Change Order process. Support production processes by optimizing, maintaining, and calibrating equipment. Ensure repair and calibration of customer's equipment meets/exceeds company KPIs. Support and train new employees through onboarding and continued employment. Conduct regular reviews with the production team, approve timesheets, and manage employee administration. Ensure adherence to Health and Safety policies in Rockaway. Control all activities in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS). Essential Skills Electronics certification. 5 years of experience managing and working with electronic equipment or instruments. Experience in repair and calibration of electronic equipment or instruments. Proficiency in MRP and ERP systems, including production planning and component purchasing. Experience with optical and fiber optic technologies. Familiarity with US Health and Safety Laws. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's in Business, Engineering, or a technical field preferred. 5 years of production experience and team management. Experience with electrical and optical test and measurement. Experience in documenting workload and processes. Knowledge of LEAN principles/Six Sigma is advantageous. Ability to manage multiple tasks and switch between them efficiently. Strong relationship-building skills and ability to communicate precisely. Proficient in Microsoft Office Packages, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, if required (rarely). Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a production environment, working at a workbench. You will work independently, reporting remotely. As the only Service Technician at this location in New Jersey, you will collaborate cross-functionally with team members as needed. The work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Rockaway, New Jersey.
