JOB SUMMARY:

The Estimator Level III is responsible for completing estimating take-offs of various electrical installations for our commercial projects. This position will ensure that all estimates are completed following local, state, and national code and in compliance with contract documents of new and/or existing projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Lead and/or oversee complete electrical take-offs for large and complex projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Perform electrical calculations and develop designs for design-build projects in compliance with project requirements.

Review, analyze, and interpret contract documents to identify scope, risks, and opportunities.

Prepare detailed breakdown charts, fixture schedules, and switchgear schedules for new projects.

Assist the Senior Estimator with the development and preparation of project Scope of Work documents.

Solicit, review, and evaluate material quotations from suppliers and vendors to ensure competitive pricing.

Request, receive, and assess subcontractor proposals for inclusion in project bids.

Support final negotiations to secure contracts and commitments with clients.

Contribute to business development efforts by fostering relationships with new and prospective clients.

Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to Estimators I and II, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices.

Participate in job turnover meetings to ensure smooth transition from estimating to operations.

Conduct value engineering exercises as directed by the Senior Estimator to optimize project costs.

Develop sub-job breakdowns and prepare detailed construction estimates.

Process and prepare change orders as required throughout the project lifecycle.

Draft and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) or clarifications to address contract or design discrepancies.

Lead pre-bid reviews in the absence of the Senior Estimator or as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities per the organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Three plus (3+) years' experience in Electrical Estimating, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Can perform complete electrical take-offs for all types of projects and electrical calculations for design-build projects.

Ability to apply the National Electrical Code in design-build calculations.

Ability to read and interpret contract documents and specifications.

Basic advanced skills with Accubid, various Estimating software, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Knowledge of basic mathematical operations and calculations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, order of operations) to calculate labor, materials, and/or cost estimates for projects and work orders, etc.

Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in the English language at a 12th-grade level.

Must possess a valid Florida Driver's license in good standing to meet the company's driving requirements.

High School Diploma or GED.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Degree/Diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field

Bilingual

Journeyman or Master Electrician License

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

General Office Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.

Environmental Conditions:

The work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled setting with minimal exposure to loud noise, temperature variations, or other environmental factors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

Sitting/Standing: Requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, though there may be opportunities for standing and moving around the office as needed.

Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands to operate computer keyboards, mouse, and other office tools, as well as to handle paperwork.

Visual Requirements: The ability to read and interpret data on computer screens and printed documents is essential.

Mobility: Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds, such as files, documents, or office supplies, may be requested. Must be able to access all areas of the facility and projects to determine purchasing needs.

Communication: Regular communication with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders requires the ability to exchange information effectively in both verbal and written form.

TRAVEL REQUIRED:

Travel is primarily local, although minimal out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
