Job Description

The Preconstruction Manager is a pivotal role responsible for orchestrating all preparatory activities for large-scale, mission-critical projects. This position involves coordinating drawings, design, risk management, legal matters, contracts, bids, estimates, materials, costs, and safety requirements. The Preconstruction Manager will work alongside subject matter experts from various departments to ensure seamless project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a cross-functional team to support projects from inception through to completion.
  • Coordinate design and engineering sequences, including 3D/BIM coordination, detailing, and scheduling.
  • Support manufacturing and provide assistance during the construction phase.
  • Oversee commissioning and turnover functions at project completion.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for all internal and external clients during the preconstruction and planning phases.
  • Transition control of projects to the project manager during the construction phase.
  • Coordinate design activities with consultants, subcontractor partners, and clients.
  • Develop best-in-class preconstruction services in collaboration with the Group Manager.
  • Inform project leadership of unresolved design issues and track design and cost changes.
  • Participate in meetings and presentations to showcase project benefits and progress.
  • Oversee the development of designs, cost estimates, and value engineering solutions.
  • Provide guidance to project managers to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in preconstruction and electrical contracting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Experience with multi-million dollar complex projects in various sectors such as industrial and healthcare.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • 10 years of experience in electrical contracting or MEP coordination.

Work Environment

The role involves traveling 15-25% of the time. Typical work hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the possibility of work at any time to meet business needs. The team consists of 8-10 members for these types of projects, with approximately 60 employees overall in the company. The work environment includes a manufacturing center on-site for large projects. The company offers a supportive culture with additional PTO for work-life balance and self-funded insurance, where employees pay only 10% of the cost. The organization has experienced significant growth, doubling in size over the last two years and is projected to continue this trend.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $145000.00/yr.

lucrative bonus - 10% paid quarterly
self funded for insurance so only pay 10% for cost
7 holidays
2-4 weeks of vacation
