Position Summary
As an Industrial Painter II you will possess a keen eye for detail and a thorough understanding of painting processes, techniques, and safety protocols. Key responsibilities include preparing surfaces for painting, mixing and applying paint, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The candidate should be proficient in using various paint equipment and have experience in cleaning and maintaining these tools to ensure optimal performance.
This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong craftsmanship, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results and meeting deadlines. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team setting. A commitment to safety and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential for this role.
Essential Functions
Paint
Surface Preparation:
- Thoroughly clean and prepare concrete surfaces for painting, ensuring proper adhesion of coatings
- Fill cracks and imperfections and perform necessary repairs to achieve the desired aesthetic
- Apply primers, sealers, and various types of concrete coatings using appropriate tools and techniques
- Execute decorative painting, staining, and finishing according to project specifications and design requirements
- Accurately match and mix paint colors to achieve desired shades and finishes
- Ensure consistency in color application across different surfaces and projects
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and client expectations
- Address any touch-ups or corrections as needed to achieve a flawless finish
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols when handling paints, coatings, and equipment
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and take necessary precautions to maintain a safe working environment
- Properly clean and maintain painting tools, equipment, and materials
- Report any issues with equipment to the supervisor for prompt resolution
- Be flexible and adaptable to changing production demands, schedules, and priorities, demonstrating a willingness to take on different tasks or responsibilities as needed to support department objectives
- Assist in other departments (spray, patch, pour, etc. on an as needed basis)
- Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate workflow, share information, and address production needs or challenges effectively
Requirements
- Proven experience as an industrial painter, preferably with a background in automotive painting
- Training or certification in painting and coating applications is a plus
- Have a good understanding of surface preparation techniques, including cleaning, patching, and repairing
- In-depth knowledge of paint types, finishes, and application methods
- Ability to operate painting equipment such as spray guns, rollers, and brushes
- Strong understanding of paint mixing, color matching and surface preparation
- Proficient in using various paint application techniques (spray, brush, roller)
- Strong eye for detail to ensure high-quality finishes and adherence to specifications
- Excellent verbal communication skills among all levels in the organization
- Ability to understand and resolve process related problems
- Ability to differentiate colors, textures, and finishes to ensure accuracy in paint application and quality control
Work Environment
- Perform job duties in a typical manufacturing/plant setting
- This position regularly requires the use of safety equipment, which generally entails regular and repetitive motions along with exposure to loud noises or hazardous material. All safety procedures should be adhered to in these situations
- Will regularly be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or chemicals. All safety procedures should be adhered to in each of these situations
Physical Demands
- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, hands, fingers, legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling of materials, and operating machinery
- Prolonged periods standing
- Superior manual dexterity, muscle control, and delicate touch necessary to complete precision work without damaging valuable molds
- Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Carrying & lifting 10 75lbs. frequently
