JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE : Snowmaking Supervisor

REPORTS TO : Snowmaking Manager

DEPARTMENT : Snowmaking

CLASSIFICATION : FT/YR

FLSA STATUS : Non-Exempt

GENERAL PURPOSE

Assists Snowmaking Manager with initiating the Snowmaking operation as developed through coordination with General Manager. Develops a trained and efficient Snowmaking crew.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assists with implementing the Snowmaking Operations plan, including fulfillment of personnel needs.
• Helps with training of Snowmakers and the operation of equipment involved within the daily routine.
• Institutes safety practices within the daily operation.
• Trains and operates snowmobiles and ATVs as directed by the JHMR Snowmobile and ATV Handbooks.
• Communicates daily routine with Snowmaking Manager and crewmembers.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

• Checks daily logs in a timely and precise manner.
• Coordinates all maintenance pertaining to snowmaking equipment.
• Checks daily reports each morning and e-mails to appropriate individuals.
• Participates in planning of system expansion, including design and construction schedules.
• Involved or assists with hiring, training, evaluating and any disciplinary action within the department.
• Assists Manager in organizing training for Snowmaking Controllers and Shift Leaders and snowmakers
• Communicates with shift changes.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Snowmaking Manager.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

Assists Manager in training and day-to-day routine of Snowmaking Operations. Coordinates operation with Snowmaking Manager, crewmembers and other departments.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY :

• Advanced background of numerous snowmaking guns.
• Knowledge of compressors, pumps and pumphouses.

EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:

• High school diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

• At least four seasons of snowmaking operations.
• Two seasons experience with technical operations, i.e., pumps and compressors.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:

• Snowmaking guns, including fan type and air/water.
• Air compressors, water pumps and high pressure water and air hoses.
• Propane torches, snowmobiles and ATVs.
• BR275 and 350
• Caterpillar and John Deere Loaders.
• Pick-up Trucks.
• Bulldozers, boom trucks.
• Welding equipment and oxy-acetylene torch.
• Other construction equipment.
• Computer.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

• Outdoors in very cold temperatures.
• Under plumes of snowguns, i.e., wet conditions.
• Lift heavy objects, including snowmobiles.
• Skiing with bamboo signs tools, hoses, etc.
