Cable Puller - San Diego, CA Job Description Join our team as a Cable Technician, where you will be responsible for pulling cable, banding cableways, and assisting with the installation and modification of fire protection systems. You will perform hardwire copper hookups on equipment within accommodation areas of ships, including lighting, hardware, junction boxes, power panels, and various other onboard components. Utilize your cable installation and termination experience on US Navy vessels, reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and technical instructions. Responsibilities Pull lead-sheathed electrical cables through ducts using fish tape or rods. Attach wire to rods or fish tape and pull wire through ducts. Perform cable pulls by hand or using a winch. Conduct hardwire copper hookups on ship equipment. Install and terminate cables onboard US Navy vessels. Read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals. Draw and create basic working diagrams and circuits. Use electrical measuring instruments and electronic measuring devices such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, and power analyzers. Essential Skills Experience in shipyard operations and electrical work. Proficiency in cable pulling and general labor duties. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Familiarity with electrical wiring and installation procedures. Knowledge of marine electrician tasks and ship repair. Additional Skills & Qualifications Connector certifications are a plus. Entry-level cable puller experience preferred. Experience in electrical work within shipbuilding or related industries such as industrial, construction, or Navy. Work Environment Work inside the NASSCO yard supporting new construction business contracts such as ESB 6, TAO-1, and TAO-2. The environment requires appropriate tools including a lockable heavy-duty tool box or bag, tape measure, heavy-duty screwdriver, diagonal cutter, cable cutter, and flashlight. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
