PLC Electrical Technician – Food Manufacturing Facility (Design, troubleshoot, and maintain automation systems including PLCs, robotics, and electrical infrastructure.) Location: Bolingbrook, IL Shift: 1st Shift Pay: $35+/hr DOE

Role Summary: Randstad USA is seeking an experienced PLC Electrical Technician for a fast-paced manufacturing operation. This role focuses on the design, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical systems, automation controls, and robotics in a food production environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience in a PLC/Electrical Technician role within a production environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • strong experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, control panels, and automated systems.
  • Hands-on electrical troubleshooting up to 480V, with understanding of relay logic and safety systems.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc robots, HMI interfaces, and industrial networking.
  • Proficient in Google Suite and maintenance platforms (L2L or similar).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work from aerial lifts as needed.
  • Food manufacturing background is a plus.
  • Must provide your own hand tools and pass pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

  • Design, troubleshoot, program, and upgrade PLC-based control systems, including Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and servos.
  • Repair and maintain electrical systems (single and 3-phase up to 480V), motor controls, and automation equipment.
  • Work with robotic systems (e.g., Fanuc) and contribute to programming and process optimization.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance, installations, and upgrades on production equipment.
  • Partner with maintenance and production teams to meet machine uptime and product quality standards.
  • Interpret and apply NEC, OSHA, USDA, FDA, and GMP standards to all electrical systems and automation work.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve fault codes and system alarms using diagnostic tools and schematics.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and system enhancements.
  • Use tools such as voltmeters, continuity testers, conduit benders, and pipe threading equipment.
  • Maintain backups of automation files and software; update programming as needed.
