Position Opportunity: Industrial Mechanical Technicians (Gearbox Technicians) will support the inspection, repair, and reassembly of high-precision industrial gear units for customers in transportation, energy, plastics, food processing, steel, and other industries. The successful candidate will work in both the shop and field environments, performing a combination of hands-on mechanical repair and service work, while maintaining quality and safety standards. Duties will include:

Disassemble, inspect, clean, and rebuild heavy industrial gearboxes to required specifications (400 to 20,000 pounds).
Troubleshoot mechanical issues in-house and at customer locations.
Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore micrometers, dial gauges, etc.
Maintain tool inventory, tracking and data entry.
Complete service documentation and submit timely reports.
Work closely with engineering and other internal teams to ensure fast, high-quality service.
Communicate clearly with clients on-site, explaining findings and proposed repair strategies.
Up to 25% travel to customer sites for domestic and international inspections, field repairs, and rebuilds. You will analyze mechanical problems, recommend solutions and initiate necessary repairs.

Ideal candidate: You have a mechanical background with proven experience working in auto repair or service, industrial machinery, machine operations, vehicle repair or maintenance, or similar roles (Or if you are motivated, mechanically inclined, and have a relevant tech certification, our client may consider that in lieu of experience.) You are adaptable to changing work priorities and have exceptional communication skills. You excel at building strong customer relationships through trust and clear articulation of complex ideas, but you also have the technical aptitude to clearly identify a problem and provide viable solutions. Your experience will include:
Experience with gearboxes, rotating equipment, or similar mechanical systems; or you have mechanical experience that includes auto repair/service, industrial machinery, vehicle repair and maintenance, or machine operations.
Trade school or technical education preferred but not required.
Mechanically inclined capable of both precision work and hands-on physical tasks.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, bill of material (BOMs) and work instructions.
Ability to analyze mechanical problems, recommend solutions and initiate necessary repairs.
Comfort in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment with shifting priorities.
Must be able to lift 50+ pounds and work safely in industrial settings.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time, as needed.
Prior forklift experience is preferred but not required.
Must be willing to work overtime including weekends as needed.

This role will be a fully onsite role with up to 25% of travel (domestic and international). This is a full-time role with a wide range of benefits to include health and life insurance, 401k, PTO, sick pay, and holiday pay. This role requires overtime, estimated at 40-50 hours per week, depending on workload. The pay range is between $24-$30 per hour, depending on experience. Must successfully pass a background check, pre-employment drug screening, and maintain a valid drivers license.
