Background/Need
The Group tackles challenges at the convergence of cybersecurity and the physical world. We operate in an interdisciplinary research and development environment and our focus is on developing new cyber-physical capabilities for the DoD, intelligence community, and federal agencies. Our key technology thrusts include gaining cyber intelligence from novel sensors and signal analysis, testbed development and introspection, vulnerability discovery, reverse engineering, and unconventional methods of system exploitation. Our projects span all R&D phases including problem analysis and solution design, rapid prototyping and field-testing, and ultimately the transfer of our technology to government sponsors and industry partners.

Job Description:
- The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team as a RF communications hardware designer and tester. The successful candidate should be interested in the inter-disciplinary nature of the cyber-physical problem space and be willing to develop new expertise in the pursuit of solving unconventional problems. Your future projects will focus on prototype applications in the wireless domain. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to prototype design, development, and testing, including hardware and instrumentation software.
- The ideal candidate will be someone who takes ownership of their work, solves challenging problems independently, and retains a sense of urgency to meet project deadlines. We are looking for candidates with innovative and energetic personalities who are willing to explore new ideas in the lab.
Required skills include:
- Knowledge of wireless technology and communications systems
- Ability to analyze and resolve highly complex technical problems quickly and independently
- RF/Analog circuit and power conversion circuit design
- Experience with electrical concepts pertaining to wireless communication transmitter and receiver processing chains
- Experience with mechanical concepts pertaining to RF power circuits
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, and gnuradio
- Experience with software defined radios (SDRs) or other communications systems, and applying signal processing techniques to these systems
- RF/Microwave lab skills with proficiency in the operation of lab equipment (e.g. oscilloscope, multi-meter, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, digitizer, arbitrary waveform generator, synthesizer, etc.)
- A BS degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience in the field
Desired skills include:
- Familiarity with radio-frequency (RF) phenomenology, electronics, and unintended RF emissions
- Installing, deploying and testing of RF equipment and systems
- An interest in field test deployments and experiment design
- Documenting designs and keeping records of development, procurements and shipments
- Providing technical support and advice to colleagues and sponsors
- Familiarity with applied AI concepts
Other:
- Clearance: An interim clearance is sufficient for the start of this position. The selected candidate will eventually be put in for a TS clearance.
- Work Location: Onsite - Candidates should expect to be onsite 32hrs/week. There may be flexibility for up to 8hrs/week to work from home as the job permits.
- Interview Process: 1st round interview will be a Zoom with the hiring manager. 2nd round interview will be a Zoom with additional team members as needed.
- Travel: Estimated at 5%. 2-3 field tests per year, between 2-8 days, domestic.
