Note: The hourly rate for this position is $25 - $30 / hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law. Responsibilities:

  • Install new wiring, outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures in remodeled residential spaces (kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, etc.)
  • Remove or reroute existing electrical systems to accommodate updated layouts and design plans
  • Interpret and follow architectural drawings, blueprints, and local code requirements for remodeling projects
  • Upgrade electrical panels and ensure systems meet current National Electrical Code (NEC) and Maryland residential code standards
  • Work closely with general contractors, HVAC technicians, plumbers, and homeowners to coordinate timing and layout of electrical installations
  • Identify and resolve electrical issues uncovered during demolition or renovation
  • Install modern lighting systems, including recessed lighting, smart switches, dimmers, and under-cabinet lighting
  • Perform rough-in and trim-out phases of electrical installation during remodeling cycles
  • Ensure all work areas are clean, safe, and properly secured before and after work is completed
  • Conduct system testing and inspections to verify safe and functional operation before project completion
  • Adhere to OSHA safety standards and local permitting/inspection processes in Maryland

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3?5 years of residential electrical experience, preferably with remodeling or renovation work
  • Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Maryland/local residential building codes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, remodeling plans, and wiring diagrams
  • Experience with panel upgrades, circuit installation, rewiring, and lighting systems
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical systems in older homes
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, circuit testers)
  • Comfortable performing both rough-in and trim-out electrical work
  • Must have reliable transportation and basic personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, attics, or crawl spaces, and climb ladders
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, especially when working with general contractors and other trades
