PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To maintain, install and repair all district plumbing and related equipment in order to minimize
interruption of the education process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Valid Texas Driver's License
Driving record that meets the requirements of the district's insurance carrier
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to understand oral and written instructions
Ability to operate backhoe and ditch trencher
Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
Knowledge of plumbing codes
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Preferred Experience:
Two years' experience in plumbing trade or related field preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assist in cleaning the sanitary sewer lines.
- Assist in repairing water leaks.
- Assist in maintaining all gas lines in safe condition and perform gas leaks tests as directed.
- Assist in repairing drinking fountain fixtures.
- Assist in installing new plumbing and domestic water systems as needed in existing facilities.
- Assist in maintaining and repairing sewage and sump pumps.
- Assist in maintaining and repairing hot water circulating pumps and hot water heaters.
- Assist in maintaining and repairing all restroom related plumbing.
- Assist in maintaining and repairing or remodeling all kitchen related plumbing.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Backhoe; Ditch Trencher; Jack Hammer; Saw; Welding Machine; Water Pumps; Hand Drill
Pipe Welder; Large, Medium, and Small Sewer Machines; Dirt Tampers
Working Conditions
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and fumes, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around gas lines; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent district-wide travel
