JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Summary: The Strategic Business Development
Manager Medical Device is responsible for building and converting a
high-value pipeline of medical device customers by leveraging Fathom
Manufacturing\'s industry-leading capabilities. This role is focused on
new business acquisition and strategic account expansion, starting with
a small portfolio of underpenetrated accounts and building toward full
ownership of a mature book of business. The ideal candidate will be a
hunter with a deep understanding of the medical device space and a track
record of opening doors, engaging engineering and procurement leaders,
and winning complex manufacturing programs. They will work closely with
Strategic Account Managers and marketing to develop and deploy case
studies, customer references, and vertical-specific value propositions.
Over time, the successful candidate will transition into a Strategic
Account Manager role, managing a portfolio of large medical device
customers. Key Responsibilities: Business Development in Medical Device:
Identify, target, and win new business from medical device OEMs,
contract manufacturers, and component suppliers, with a focus on
accounts capable of \$1M+ annual spend. Account Expansion: Grow
existing, underperforming medical device accounts by building stronger
relationships, uncovering additional programs, and expanding Fathom\'s
share of wallet. Self-Driven Prospecting: Independently drive
top-of-funnel activity through research, outreach, referrals, and
industry networking, supported by a strong marketing engine and
centralized sales infrastructure. Solution Positioning: Leverage
Fathom\'s full suite of manufacturing capabilitiesincluding CNC
machining, injection molding, additive manufacturing, composite layups,
sheet metal, secondary operations, and assemblyto address complex
medical device production needs. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner
with Strategic Account Managers to develop compelling case studies and
sales enablement assets; collaborate with internal sales operations,
marketing, quoting, and customer support to ensure delivery excellence.
Sales Execution: Own the full sales cycle from prospecting to close,
supported by Fathom\'s centralized quoting and technical teams. Manage
activities and pipeline through Salesforce and align with established
sales processes. Progression to Account Ownership: Over 1824 months,
grow a self-built portfolio of medical device customers and transition
into a Strategic Account Manager role with full commercial ownership.
Preferred Qualifications: Proven success in business development or
sales within the medical device industry, particularly with
manufacturers or component suppliers. Strong understanding of the med
device buying process and regulatory awareness (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA
considerations). Demonstrated ability to independently prospect,
qualify, and close new accounts. Experience collaborating with
engineers, buyers, and quality/regulatory professionals. Comfortable
selling complex manufacturing services across both prototyping and
production phases. High initiative and self-motivation; thrives in an
autonomous, target-driven role. Strong verbal and written communication
skills, including technical credibility with engineers and buyers.
