Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues throughout the store, including lighting, outlets, and power circuits in sales floors, offices, and storage areas
- Perform lighting maintenance and upgrades, such as replacing ballasts, LED fixtures, high bay lights, and exterior lighting (parking lots, signage)
- Service and maintain electrical panels and subpanels, ensuring proper load balance and circuit functionality
- Install conduit and wiring for new displays, equipment, or relocated departments
- Test and repair backup power systems, including emergency lighting and battery backups
- Ensure all work complies with NEC, Indiana electrical code, and corporate facility standards
- Use lifts, ladders, and appropriate PPE to access ceiling or rooftop electrical systems
- Respond promptly to service calls, including emergency outages or safety-related electrical failures
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of commercial electrical experience, specifically in service and maintenance work
- Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Indiana state/local electrical codes
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair electrical systems, including lighting, outlets, circuits, and panels
- Skilled in installing and maintaining conduit (EMT, rigid, PVC) and pulling wire
- Experience working with lighting systems, electrical panels, transformers, and low-voltage components
- Ability to work independently in active commercial settings (e.g., big-box retail stores, warehouses)
- Comfortable using ladders, scissor lifts, and other access equipment
- Must provide own basic hand tools
- Must follow OSHA safety standards, including lockout/tagout procedures
- High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of a state-recognized electrical apprenticeship is a plus
- Strong communication skills to interact with supervisors, store personnel, and customers as needed
