Overview

The Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of new processes, equipment, and system modifications within a manufacturing or production environment. This role involves creating and refining mechanical and process designs, overseeing equipment installation, and supporting start-up activities to ensure functionality, efficiency, and safety. The Design Engineer collaborates cross-functionally to deliver innovative solutions that support operational goals and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Designs equipment tooling to resolve problems
  • Makes recommendations to overcome machine/process deficiencies
  • Seeks out and defines projects/processes which result in improvement of quality, productivity, labor utilization, training materials, machine parameters, operation procedures and cost
  • Executes approved programs to improve productivity and processes efficiencies to minimize waste and reduce costs
  • Researches all necessary technical information relating to assigned projects/processes
  • Accurately maintains all necessary technical documentation (records/data) in an appropriate format to ensure proper analyses and communication of results
  • Analyzes, draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on interpretation of collected data
  • Assures preparation and maintenance of engineering drawings on all fabricated parts, machine assemblies and tooling
  • Primary liaison for technology transfer to and from outside parties involving process machinery and equipment
  • Maintains access to all information concerning design including, but not limited to, automation, safety, durability, and repair/troubleshooting
  • Oversees maintenance of engineering drawing records including documentation, cataloging, duplication, and updating
  • Supervises activities of all personnel assigned for specific project work and ensures productivity and quality
  • ISO 9001 and Environmental, Health and Safety

  • Maintain awareness on company policies
  • Maintain awareness on company objectives for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
  • Support the Companys continuous improvement initiatives
  • Other Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the health and safety programs
  • Trains involved employees in assigned area
  • Audits programs for compliance with aid of outside parties
  • Member of Safety committee, as required
  • Any other duties that may be assigned
  • Qualifications
  • Minimum Associates Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a related industry.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with all levels of personnel
  • Objective and analytical problem solving skills
