Job Title: Traveling Superintendent
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Traveling Superintendent to join our team. This role involves overseeing daily construction activities on-site, primarily for projects involving ground-up builds and tenant build-outs for clients such as Chipotle and Taco Bell. The initial project locations may include Whitetown, IN, or Champaign, IL. The Superintendent will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure project progress, schedule subcontractors, and manage the delivery of equipment and materials.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily construction activities of the project on-site.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure project progress, schedule subcontractors, and manage equipment and material delivery.
- Collaborate with subcontractors to complete projects within budget and time frame.
- Schedule utilities and inspections.
- Assess the work of others and make corrections as needed.
- Create thorough daily field log reports using FieldLens on a Microsoft Surface Pro.
- Ensure and maintain a safe work environment according to OSHA standards.
- Assist with finish work requiring carpentry skills, such as door hanging, caulking, decor installation, and trim installation, as needed.
- Plan and accomplish goals using experience and judgment.
- Report to the Division Manager.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a superintendent, including knowledge and reading of blueprints and specifications.
- Experience with at least 2 projects in quick-serve restaurant or retail construction.
- At least 1 year of experience in a client-facing role as a superintendent.
- Proficiency with technology, especially using a Microsoft Surface Pro in the field.
- Willingness to work full-time travel, including some Saturdays, with projects across states from Texas to Michigan, Iowa to Ohio.
- Familiarity with fast-paced projects, typically 60-90 days on average.
- Ability to obtain OSHA 30 certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
- Carpentry background is beneficial.
- Experience with FieldLens for daily reports.
Work Environment
This role requires on-site work five days a week, with the possibility of working Saturdays if crews are present to meet deadlines. The position offers a competitive salary, paid holidays, and a week off during Christmas. Downtime between jobs will be compensated, and travel expenses, including $0.67 per mile, $60 per diem, and accommodation in Airbnb or hotels, are covered. Employees return home on weekends. A cellphone and Surface Pro are provided for work.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $110000.00/hr.
