Job Description

We are seeking a Land Survey Crew Chief or Junior Crew Chief for our office in Raleigh, NC. The ideal candidate should have experience in boundary, topographic, and construction surveys. Familiarity with automated survey instrumentation and an understanding of construction plans and stakeout techniques are essential. Candidates with two or more years of experience are preferred, although training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform and manage surveys as a one-person crew using state-of-the-art robotic and GPS equipment.
• Understand and execute construction layout, cut sheets, survey calculations, boundary and title surveys, and topographic surveys.
• Collect and process survey information accurately.
• Operate and maintain surveying equipment including total stations, digital levels, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
• Research and review land records and legal documents to determine property boundaries.
• Establish boundary markers and reference points using high-accuracy surveying techniques.
• Conduct traverses and level loops for primary and secondary control.
• Maintain accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performance.
• Communicate daily with Project Surveyors and CAD technicians regarding project schedule and progress.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and practices in the field.
• Maintain company truck and equipment.

Essential Skills

• Ability to perform as a one-person crew using robotic and GPS equipment.
• Working knowledge of construction layout, survey calculations, and data collection.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• AutoCAD experience is a plus.
• Experience with Trimble Total Station, SIT, FSIT, Alta, Topcon, and other surveying instruments.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
