Job Title: Senior Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a talented Senior Design Engineer to join our expanding Water Resources Group. This role is pivotal in managing and executing a wide range of civil engineering and water resources projects, focusing on large-scale, impactful initiatives such as the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan. You will have the flexibility to design and implement solutions that positively affect ecosystems, watersheds, and communities.
Responsibilities
- Manage large environmental restoration projects, including embankment systems, levees, reservoirs, pump stations, and stormwater collection systems.
- Oversee a project team utilizing various design engineering and modeling techniques for state and local municipalities.
- Conduct complex engineering analyses and design calculations.
- Prepare design drawings, construction specifications, cost estimates, bid packages, and technical reports.
- Support and lead hydraulic and hydrology modeling, data collection, and presentations.
- Sign and seal drawings as the engineer of record on projects.
- Perform slope stability analysis and structural design/analysis.
- Engage in client communication, business development, subconsultant management, and staff management.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering.
- PE license in Florida.
- 10+ years of consulting engineering experience, managing projects and junior staff.
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships with public and private entities.
- Experience with SFWMD and/or USACE, including familiarity with Engineering Manuals (EMs) and Design Criteria Memorandums (DCMs).
- Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, SWMM, and ICPR.
- Experience with InfraWorks, Civil 3D, GIS, and sediment transport modeling.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience with environmental planning, permitting, and regulations.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong professional-level verbal and written communication skills.
- Leadership and business development skills are advantageous.
- ACI Certifications are a plus.
- High level of personal integrity and a strong work ethic.
Work Environment
This position offers the opportunity to work fully remote, with a preference for candidates located near Tampa or West Palm Beach. However, experienced professionals may work from anywhere in Florida. The organization is a leading provider of engineering, consulting, and program management services, with offices in Tampa, Tallahassee, West Palm Beach, and Orlando, serving multiple state agencies, municipalities, and private sector clients throughout the region.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52.00 - $67.00/hr.
