Position: Shipper Loader

Reports to: Shipping Supervisor

Primary Function:

Operate forklifts to load flat bed and box trucks. Maintain warehouse organization and assist in performing cycle counts. Employee will be used to fill in on other jobs in plant as required.

Duties:

Tasks Include but are not limited to:

A. Daily inspections and operation of propane sit down lift trucks.

B. Pick order and stage orders.

C. Put together partials per customer order.

D. Inspect material for quality defects.

E. Load material on flat bed or box trucks.

F. Inspect to see if proper material is loaded on truck.

G. Fill out all paperwork associated with order and/or scan material.

H. Material handling of all products.

I. Occasional tarping of loads.

J. Housekeeping of plant inside and out.

K. Scrap out, and/or segregate defective product and properly report.

L. Assist with the upkeep of the entire plant.

M. Perform random inventory counts and end of month inventories.

N. Apply company labels to our product pallets.

O. Any other duties assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge/Skills:

Essential Full Performance Knowledge -

Required knowledge includes but is not limited to:

  1. Knowledge and certification of forklift operations.
  2. Knowledge of entire warehouse layout, product codes, lot numbers.
  3. Complete understanding of entire shipping order.
  4. Ability to identify possible quality defects.
  5. Knowledge of safety aspects of all equipment operated as well as the plants general safety policies.
  6. Understanding the impact of sending incorrect/defective product.

Essential Full Performance Skills

Required skills include but are not limited to:

  1. Reading - Shipping orders, SFIS, forklift sign out, product codes, distributor labels.
  2. Math - Loading the appropriate number or pallets, piece counts, etc.
  3. Writing - Complete shipping orders, BOL, loading diagrams, transaction, scrap and forklift inspection sheets, etc.
  4. Communication - Train new crewmembers. Communicate problems or improvements to supervisor.
  5. Computer Skills - Basic knowledge, making of labels.
  6. Operation of measurement gauges - Tape measure
  7. Forklift operation
  8. Problem solving skills

Equipment/Data:

  1. Equipment Operated Forklift, computer, printer, fax, copier, CB radio.
  2. Tools required Various hand tools and required PPE as needed.
  3. Data Used Shipping orders, SFIS, pick sheets.

Work Environment: Activities occur inside and/or outside an insulation manufacturing facility. Job includes but are not limited to exposure to the following:

  1. Temperatures - exposed to both ambient/outside temperatures.
  2. Nuisance dust.
  3. Use of chemicals.
  4. Fumes from solvent, forklift exhaust and tractor-trailers
  5. Pinch point on moving mechanical parts.
  6. Heavy equipment operation including forklift.

Time Worked:

  1. Hours Worked Typically 40 hours per week with overtime required as production, shipping or warehouse dictates.
  2. Days of Week Worked Typically Monday through Friday with weekend work required as production, shipping or warehouse needs dictate.
  3. Shifts Worked 1shift with start/ending times varied.

Physical Requirements:

Physical requirements include but are not limited to:

  1. Sitting and reaching
  2. Standing
  3. Walking including climbing up and down ladders
  4. Balancing
  5. Stooping & crouching
  6. Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  7. Hearing and sight
  8. Identify the products correctly

Supervisory Duty: This job has no supervisory responsibilities

Educational Requirements:

  • Education - High School Diploma
  • Equivalency - GED/ demonstrated math, writing and reading skills.
  • Experience: Forklift experience and labeling product.
