Job Title: Extrusion Operator I

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

This position is responsible for assisting the Operator 2 in the setting up and operating of the KR and K2 extruders. The Operator 1 will become familiar with all equipment, products, operating and reporting procedures, etc. The Operator 1 will be able to handle all peripheral operations with minimum directions. Operator 1 is required to establish themselves as future candidates for future Operator 2 openings. Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the operator 2 in performing basic maintenance.
  • Assist in equipment upgrades and new equipment installations.
  • Equipment used in day to day operations include but are not limited to the following: Forklift, extruders, grinders, saws, knives, etc.
  • Set, check and maintain product dimensions such as slits, perfs, roll length, etc.
  • Assure product quality such as, color, weight, slits, perfs, widths and lengths.
  • Assure all product is properly packaged (sawed, bagged and tied, etc.) and placed on the correct shipping door.
  • Prepare support material such as cores, labels, pallets, tape, and bags, etc.
  • Assist the Operator 2 with preparing raw materials.
  • Comply with and maintain adherence to Company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices.
  • Report all hazardous conditions to the Operations Supervisor or Plant Manager immediately for corrective action.
  • Maintain good employee relations.
  • Adhere to Company policies and procedures.
  • Refer all employee complaints, warnings, employee records and employee relations issues to the Operations Supervisor or Plant Manager.
  • Assure good housekeeping practices within Company property.
  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Equivalent to High School Math, English, verbal and written skills.
  • Mechanical ability required. Prior manufacturing experience a plus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Three years of work history preferred.

SCHEDULED HOURS:

Current: Day, swing, and Graveyard shift

Shifts rotate

Scheduled hours subject to change as determined by business needs

Overtime

Requirements: Overtime and weekends as needed.

WORKING

CONDITIONS: Physically demanding work. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Walking and standing on a cement floor in a production environment. No air conditioning. Working around and with manufacturing machinery.

MEETINGS: Attend all required meetings, training sessions, etc.
