Openwork is currently engaged in a search to find a production worker in Atlanta, GA. In this manufacturing role, you will be responsible for the creation of commercial roofing using sheet metal. Apply today if you meet the qualifications listed below.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine material requirements and fabrication processes.
Measure, cut, bend, punch, and form sheet metal using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and machinery (e.g., shears, press brakes, punches, rollers, CNC machines).
Operate and maintain fabrication equipment safely and efficiently, including performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting minor issues.
Perform various welding processes (e.g., TIG, MIG, Spot Welding) on different types of sheet metal (e.g., stainless steel, aluminum, mild steel) to create finished products or sub-assemblies.
Inspect fabricated parts for defects, ensuring they meet quality standards and dimensional accuracy.
Utilize precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, protractors, tape measures) to verify dimensions.
Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other team members to optimize fabrication processes and resolve technical issues.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Assist with material handling, loading, and unloading as needed.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing principles.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or an Associate's degree in a relevant field is a plus.
Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in sheet metal fabrication or a related manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
Strong knowledge of various sheet metal materials, their properties, and best fabrication practices.
Demonstrated experience operating fabrication equipment such as press brakes, shears, rollers, and punches.
Solid welding skills (TIG, MIG, Spot Welding preferred) with the ability to produce clean and strong welds.
Proficient in using precision measuring tools.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to [e.g., 50] lbs) and stand for extended periods.
Familiarity with CNC programming and operation (preferred but not always required).
Forklift certification (a plus).
This role is $30/hr depending on experience and would be 7 AM - 3:30 PM Mon - Fri.
